Dr. Jan Räker LL.M. (Montreal)

Dr. Jan Räker, LL.M., stud­ied law at Co­logne Uni­versity fo­cus­ing on pub­lic law and sports law, where he also ob­tained his doc­tor­ate. He also ob­tained a Mas­ter of Law in sports law at the Mc­Gill Law School in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Räker did his in­tern­ships at the Ger­man Em­bassy in Wash­ing­ton DC and the Ger­man Foot­ball League (DFL), amongst oth­ers.

Since April 2008 Dr. Räker has been work­ing as a cor­por­ate coun­sel for the Ham­burger Sport-Ver­ein (HSV), where he was re­spons­ible for all leg­al ques­tions of the as­so­ci­ation. He was in­volved, in close co-op­er­a­tion with the ex­ec­ut­ive com­mit­tee, in the Premi­er League’s op­er­at­ive busi­ness and rep­res­en­ted the HSV on na­tion­al and in­ter­na­tion­al com­mit­tees.

Dr. Räker suc­cess­fully com­pleted a study course in foot­ball man­age­ment at IST Düsseldorf, where he still lec­tures in mar­ket­ing and law. Dr. Räker com­ple­ments our team since Decem­ber 2011 and is re­spons­ible for the sports law de­part­ment. Be­sides, he is Leg­al Dir­ect­or at VFB Stuttgart.
